About the role:

This is a Fixed term role for 12 months 

The purpose of the role is to support our business customers with the successful deployment of the Ocado Health, Safety, Fire and Environmental management systems and strive to surpass regulatory compliance. The HSE mission is “to deliver safely for you and our client partners” and this key role supports the operational teams to achieve this aim. The successful applicant would need to drive as this is a regional role across our UK sites.

You will be:

As the primary point of contact for the site management teams on Health, Safety, Fire and Environment (HSFE) matters, this role encompasses various responsibilities. You will be giving expert guidance, incorporating best practices, and meticulously reviewing legal and legislative requirements before dispensing advice. Timely and accurate reporting of HSFE data by operational teams is a crucial aspect, with the role also involving comprehensive HSF&E audits and inspections across allocated facilities. Keeping abreast of legal changes, the candidate suggests policy and management system updates, contributes to environmental compliance, and supports diverse business projects, aiming to eliminate risks for the Ocado business. The position involves coaching project management in risk assessments and safe work systems, continually reviewing and enhancing effectiveness. Additional duties include accident investigation support, collaboration in updating the HSFE Strategy and analysing health and safety trends to enhance overall performance. The role extends to coaching and developing the Ocado workforce on HSFE management standards and requirements. Skills in these domains are integral to fulfilling these multifaceted responsibilities.

About you:

The ideal candidate for this position is a car owner with insurance coverage for business use. A collaborative "can do" and "in this together" approach is essential. The role requires creative and pragmatic thinking when tackling business challenges and problem-solving, with the ability to work and show attention to detail. The minimum qualifications include a NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety and Tech IOSH Membership, an IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management (working towards IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management) or an equivalent level qualification, and the capability to compile accurate detailed reports. Relevant experience in a Health, Safety, Fire and environmental role, along with a solid understanding of basic project management principles, is essential. The candidate should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred or desired qualifications, in addition to the minimum requirements, encompass previous experience in an automated distribution/manufacturing environment, NEBOSH Certificate for Fire Safety and/or NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction.
