Senior Project Engineer (3rd Party Systems)

We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced individual to join the Central Engineering team as a Senior Project Engineer! This is a permanent opportunity based in Hatfield. (Hybrid Working)

As a Senior Project Engineer (3rd Party Systems), you will be working on Ocado's new automated warehouse build projects across the world. Broadly, you will be responsible of implementation of 3rd party MHE systems to the customer fulfilment centre.As an important part of the project team, you work closely with different internal and external stakeholders including suppliers and client’s technical teams and Ocado’s internal departments such as Programme Management, Product Development, Design, Engineering, Supply Chain and Operations to successfully deliver the project.


Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the design, procurement, installation, software integration, commissioning and testing (FAT and SAT) of all 3rd party supplied Material Handling Equipment (MHE) systems that goes into the automated warehouse project.
  • Be the client-facing technical point of contact on behalf of the project team for 3rd party products and their engineering challenges. Understand client needs, create user requirements and communicate effectively with the project team, suppliers and the client.
  • Work with the MHE, IT Infrastructure and other Subject Matter Expert’s (SME) team within Central Engineering to ensure the 3rd party systems are designed, installed and commissioned correctly.
  • Support Supply Chain and project teams for technical queries within engineering context.
  • Provide complete and comprehensive handover packs for regional delivery teams to roll out. Support regional delivery teams during install, commissioning and testing phases with engineering related issue resolution.

 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • You have a great track record of project engineering experience in a relevant industry (ASRS, FMCG, airports, manufacturing)
  • You have excellent technical and practical engineering knowledge (mechanical and electrical) including design, production, installation, software integration, commissioning and testing (FAT and SAT) experience with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) e.g. conveyor systems.
  • You are able to read, understand and work with 3D models of site designs, drawings and electrical schematics.
  • You have experience in coordinating cross-functional project teams including third parties i.e. clients, suppliers and contractors.

  • You are flexible and adapt to changing information quickly, able to take into account key trade-offs.
