Senior UX Researcher

As a Senior UX Researcher, you will have the opportunity to uncover the goals, needs, and challenges of our diverse user base, including software engineers, data scientists, data analysts, and others who create and consume data. Working within the Insight Services Data department, you will contribute to shaping the future of our Data Intelligence Platform - an innovative solution for data storage and management. Your work will span critical areas such as data ingestion, transformation, and large-scale consumption (including analysis and reporting), helping to drive the platform's evolution.

Accountabilities:

  • Plan, conduct and analyse user research studies to gain deep insights into user behaviours, needs, and motivations. Users include: Software Engineers, Data Scientists, Data Analysts, Data Engineers, Product Managers etc.
  • Run research projects comfortably with any method and be able to advise and pull in resources when experience is lacking.
  • Triangulate qualitative and quantitative research methods to build a complete understanding of the product area.
  • Collaborate with Group Product Managers and Product Managers to establish research priorities.
  • Work daily with cross functional teams including Product, UX, Data & Engineering.
  • Work with other UX and Product people to build partnerships and trust with our customers and secure access to users.
  • Champion data-informed decision making in a specific project and beyond, by guiding research to influence the long-term decisions of the product.
  • Effectively deliver high quality insights which are able to influence product decisions, ensuring insights are actioned across the stakeholders involved.
  • Use a variety of documentation skills such as journey mapping, executive summaries, service design maps to communicate insights and share with key stakeholders, senior leadership, product teams, solutions and UX team.
  • Create effective and compelling artefacts in highly complex and technical service areas.
  • Evangelise UX research best practices and processes within the department and beyond and mentor more junior team members on the research craft.
  • Be prepared to propose solutions based on your insights, in rare cases where UI exist, using Figma and our internal design system. Your work will translate research findings into practical, user-centred designs.
  • Have empathy for customers, clients, stakeholders & managers. You are able to adapt your communication in order to understand their needs.
  • Be an advocate for our users.
  • Manage, track and deliver on commitment timelines
  • Validate solutions.
  • Support activities that make Ocado a great place to work including training, mentoring and internal tooling.

 

About you:

  • You are excellent at identifying and executing the most suitable research methodology for the given problem space.
  • You are able to challenge the initial assumptions made about a product/direction to be sure we deliver in the right way for the wider service.
  • You build strong relationships and have experience working with cross functional teams and get them involved to support studies.
  • You are a great storyteller and can create and share research outcomes in a compelling way.
  • You are able to connect user insights with business goals in order to influence business decisions.
  • You possess strong analytical skills with a pinch of design skills, particularly with Figma, and have experience working with internal design systems.
  • You are very organised in your research practices.
