Senior Mechatronics Engineer (Electronics) - Grocery Pick Hardware
As a Mechanonics Engineer on the Grocery Pick Hardware Team, you will help us create the most advanced robots for our customers. You will work closely with other disciplines (Software, AI, ML, Product, etc.) designing subsystems for complex robotic systems.
You will own critical portions of new projects in end-of-arm tooling and robotic system design. You will work closely with our Robotics Software and Platform Teams to ensure that the designs you create integrate into our larger system design.
What you bring:
- Ability to iterate designs quickly and demonstrate new concepts through rapid prototyping
- Experience identifying and characterizing key sensor attributes and selecting appropriate integration hardware (amplifier, filtering, ADC) for your design
- Experience selecting and integrating motors (BLDC, stepper, etc) and motor controllers
- Experience selecting, integrating, programming and deploying to ARM based microcontrollers
- Experience with board level hardware interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART) as well as fieldbus technologies (Modbus, CANopen, EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP)
- Ability to design, manufacture, bring up and debug multilayer PCBs. Must be fully competent in a major EDA package (preferably Altium)
- Practical experience designing systems for EMC compliance
- Ability to design, justify, and communicate the electrical architecture of our products through systematic evaluations of components and technologies against product and project requirements
Bonus Qualifications:
- 5+ years as an engineer in a related industry
- Track record of full product lifecycle ownership, from ideation to mass production.
- Applicable skills in at least one of the following areas: end effector (EOAT) design, industrial automation, robotic work cells
- Experience with analog electrical equipment (e.g. specifying cables, connectors, panel layouts, NFPA79)
- Familiarity with machine safety, ANSI/RIA R15.06-2012 and NFPA79
