Senior Operations Manager - Ocado Logistics

Are you ready to take on a challenging role that blends operational leadership with strategic thinking? Join Ocado Logistics as a Senior Operations Manager and lead a large-scale, complex delivery operation.

We are seeking a Senior Operations Manager with experience overseeing significant delivery operations, managing large teams, and optimising fleet performance. This position covers our dynamic Erith operating region, including Erith, Walthamstow, Merton, Wimbledon, Crawley, and Weybridge.

About the Role: As a Senior Operations Manager, you will lead a region that includes six sites, with approximately 3,000 Customer Service Team Members (van drivers), and managing a fleet of around 1,500 vehicles. You will:

  • Lead, inspire, and drive success across a large and complex delivery network.
  • Develop and implement regional strategies that align with business objectives and customer expectations.
  • Integrate new managers into your team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs), focusing on fleet optimisation, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
  • Manage the complexities of large-scale delivery logistics, ensuring compliance with legal and company standards.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
  • Manage budgets, control costs, and optimise resources to meet financial targets.
  • Ensure that health and safety standards are consistently exceeded across all sites.

About You: We are looking for an experienced leader with a proven track record in managing large-scale operations. To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience in managing high-volume delivery operations with large fleets and large headcounts in a fast moving environment.
  • A strong commercial background, ideally with multi-retailer exposure.
  • Proven experience in improving customer and employee experiences while driving operational metrics.
  • Demonstrated success in stakeholder management, team development, and performance management.
  • Ability to handle the complexity of shift work and on-call requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills and a track record of improving KPIs through strategic thinking.
  • Knowledge of fleet management, distribution logistics, and operational compliance.
  • Proven track record of self development.
  • A current UK Driving Licence (minimum three years) with 3 points or less and CPC international qualification.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and relevant fleet management or logistics systems.
