About the role: 

As a Finance Data Governance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in upholding the integrity, quality, and upkeep of financial data across the Ocado group. Your responsibilities encompass a comprehensive understanding of financial data and data processes across domains such as S2P, R2R, P2R, A2R, covering both master and transactional data objects. Additionally, proficiency in comprehending data policy requirements and adherence to data governance principles is crucial for success in this role.

In the aftermath of a successful transformation program, you will be a key driver in seamlessly integrating the capabilities achieved during the program into a sustainable Business-As-Usual (BAU) function.

Collaboration with cross-functional teams is integral to your role, as you work to establish and enforce robust data governance policies, procedures, and standards. This effort is part of the newly introduced Group Data function, where your contributions will significantly impact data quality and compliance. Key Responsibilities include:

Data Governance

  • Work with the in-place programme data team to adopt and transition what they have delivered into a formalised BAU finance data function
  • Take over ownership and management of the data governance framework delivered under the Evolve 2 programme including the data roles and responsibilities matrix, finance data artefacts and the finance and data analytics platform

Data Quality Management

  • Support the transition of the financial data reporting and KPI tooling  and develop into a BAU capability
  • Ongoing collaboration with data owners and stewards to ensure data quality standards are met
  • Embed processes to detect and resolve data quality issues

Finance Data Policy Compliance

  • Perform regular review of finance process policies with GPOs\Data Owners to ensure KPIs are relevant and accurate
  • Support finance process teams to ensure data policy compliance with agreed SLAs

Data Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure stakeholders that are identified in data roles have the correct levels of support from the finance data team to perform their required tasks
  • Keep the stakeholder map up to date with any changes to roles and responsibilities matrix

Collaboration and Communication

  • Collaborate with Group data, IT, HR and other relevant departments to implement data governance initiatives
  • Chair the monthly Finance Data Governance forum to ensure finance data being shared between systems is monitored and maintained
  • Foster a data-driven culture within the finance department

Data Governance Audits and Reporting

  • Conduct regular audits of financial data governance processes.
  • Generate and distribute reports on data governance metrics and compliance
  • Work with Group data governance function to ensure alignment to centralised governance principles

Team Leadership

  • Be involved with the hiring process for a supporting data analytics lead who will be responsible for management and maintenance of the finance data platform
  • This role will report into the Finance data governance manager 

What we’re looking for: 

  • Proven experience in finance data governance, data management, or a related role
  • Shaping and definition of the operating approach of the Finance data governance function
  • In-depth knowledge of financial data and data governance principles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in managing projects or supporting project delivery 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with data governance tools and technologies
  • Demonstrable experience of managing a small team (2 to 5 people)
  • High level understanding of Finance ERP related data sets across S2P, R2R, P2R, A2R etc - both master & transactional data objects
