Delivering front line support globally
Engineering operations opportunities
Our Engineering Operations teams are located within our partner sites. They are responsible for sustaining and optimising robotics and automation in the world’s most sophisticated grocery fulfilment centres to transform the operational economics for our retail partners. We ensure that all elements of the built environment run seamlessly and at peak performance.
Our teams may be distributed around the world but we are a global community bringing together expertise across electrical, mechanical, controls, electronic, PLC, robotic automation, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic fields to monitor and diagnose smart automation and robotics systems.

Customer Fulfilment Centres going live
Last year we saw six of our international large-scale smart warehouses 'go live' around the world. Every warehouse opening was the culmination of work from teams across Ocado Technology, from the design office to supply chain, integration and field engineering teams.
Our application process
We will provide the training required to enable you to work with automation and robotic handling systems. We have a vast array of cutting edge technology, providing the opportunity to develop your skill base in future engineering design, 6-axis robotics, in-depth control and management system, intra logistic solutions and 3-phase PLC controlled automation equipment. Because our engineering teams ensure that all operations run seamlessly year round, many of the roles work shifts. Resolving issues are time sensitive, so we’re looking for problem-solvers who can think on their feet to minimise any downtime.
*Please note that Engineering Team Managers will have one additional interview after the onsite final interview and Senior Engineering Operation Managers will have an additional two interviews.
Fill in our online application form and upload your details. We’ll be looking for evidence that your skills and experience are suitable for the role and life here at Ocado Group.
If your strengths match what we’re looking for, we’ll invite you for an initial interview with the hiring manager for the role. Your talent acquisition lead will let you know what to expect in advance.
This interview will likely include a conversation about your CV, your skills and experience, and what interests you about working here. Remember, it’s a two-way process, so feel free to ask us questions to explore if we’re the right fit for you too.
The final stages vary depending on the role. We may invite you to interview with other team members, or ask you to participate in a values-based cultural fit assessment. There might also be additional technical or knowledge-based aspects to the process. Your talent acquisition lead will support you throughout the process.
We’ll let you know the outcome of your application and, if you’re successful, we’ll be in touch to congratulate you and discuss next steps.

“I thought, maybe if I used my warehouse experience to get into another warehouse, but with a larger, growing company, I could then progress through the ranks towards management… I was the first engineering team member to join under the Lead Engineering Operations Manager at the Bicester CFC. We've had to recruit the whole department from scratch - more team managers, engineers, technicians, and so on. Then we had to get everybody trained, and ready to go in time to go-live."
Rob, Engineering Team Manager
“The company culture is really inclusive. We have technicians and engineers from a wide range of backgrounds and industries, everyone’s perspective is valued. Mistakes are treated as a learning experience, and support is provided in areas that need to be developed.”
Kruti, Automation and Robotics Technician
“The Engineering graduate scheme provides you with many opportunities to learn, experience and own projects. I ran a workshop with our experienced engineers and managers after only being in the business a few months.”
Sheyda, Engineering Operations Graduate
“We need engineers that are not only equipped for today, but for whatever is around the corner.”
Mel, Global Training Manager
