Reimagining the next generation of robotics
Our roboticists develop cutting-edge robotics and automation systems to power the most efficient end-to-end grocery logistics platform in the world.
By bringing together expertise across software, hardware, electronics, machine learning, computer vision, simulation, mechatronics and data science, our teams research, design, and develop robotics solutions which go beyond the state-of-the-art.
From the thousands of bots swarming on giant storage grids, orchestrated in real time, to our robotic arms that can pick and pack groceries without any prior knowledge of what the items are, innovation is at the heart of what we do. Our breakthroughs enable us to solve the complex demands of online grocery – and have potential applications far beyond.

Designing the world's lightest and most efficient grocery fulfilment bot
Using additive-first design principles and the latest advances in topology optimisation, we created a lightweight, ultra energy-efficient bot for our fulfilment system ‘The Hive’. The bot, which is over 50% 3D printed by weight, is a critical enabler for a new generation of highly automated warehouses.
Delivering a state-of-the-art robotic picking and packing solution
Leading breakthrough innovation in computer vision, deep reinforcement learning and mechatronics to power our picking and packing solution. These robotic arms make smart decisions on the fly and integrate directly with ‘The Hive’.
Developing supervised autonomy for remote robot recovery
Building intelligent systems that enable human operators to manage hundreds of autonomous robotic systems, where intervention from the operator is used to improve the AI. This combines the best of human and robot capability and helps transform the workplace of today with the technology of tomorrow.
Where could your career take you?
At Ocado Technology, our colleagues design their own career path. You’ll be supported and guided whether you want to specialise in your technical craft, become a people manager, or apply your skills to a completely new area of the business. Hear from some of our colleagues:
"After I visited one of Ocado’s Customer Fulfilment Centres, I realised I was working on the future."
Damian, Head of Product
"Working as a robotics engineer is exciting for me because I see myself making abstract mathematics do real things in the real world. Help real people. Making robots sense and perceive the environment like we do."
Monica, Robotics Software Developer - Kindred AI
"Not only do I get to work at the cutting-edge of technology and innovation, I also get to work within a community, driven by smart and highly motivated colleagues."
