Recent highlights

Additive manufacturing at scale

We’re employing additive manufacturing at scale. Dexter, an ultra-high-precision, low-cost robotic arm and our 600 Series Bot use a unique additive-first approach to create complex, geometric parts which would be difficult, if not impossible, to manufacture using traditional methods. With additive manufacturing, our solutions combine lightweight design and strength with a dramatic reduction in materials. And with quick iterations, we can experiment, re-print and merge the best features into new models in tandem. What’s more, techniques such as topology optimisation and finite analysis keep us at the forefront of innovation.

Engineering a complex, dynamic Grid system

We’re developing, testing and installing high-throughput, automated systems at the cutting-edge of structural-mechanical design. Each Grid can reach the size of 3 football pitches and needs to consider the challenges of parametric design, environmental hazards and manufacturing and installation tolerance demands.

These challenges rival most automated machines, scale, and complex AI-led load cases. Our teams enhance the Grid’s configuration for site design and use the latest technologies to optimise cost, materials and speed to install. Our expertise in leading analysis, design and verification capabilities keeps us at the forefront of innovation.

Meet our people

“I started my career at Ocado Group as a software engineer, and I've been lucky to experience a variety of roles from simulation research to new technology development since. Today, I Iead the team designing the 600 Series Bot, taking it from conception to launch. I've been able to apply my background in software engineering to hardware - using continuous improvement and agile methodology to drive rapid development at the cutting-edge. Being at the forefront of additive technologies means we can quickly experiment, explore, and test whole new generations of our design in weeks not months. It's this constant drive for innovation that makes each day exciting here.”
