Recent highlights
Creating frictionless shopping experiences
We’re breaking boundaries in conversational engines, personalisation, voice ordering technology, advanced payments tools and smart ML to meet ever more stringent demands for speed, value and choice.
Orchestrating thousands of bots
We developed an AI “Air Traffic” control system which coordinates the bots in our highly-automated warehouses. The system communicates with each bot ten times per second to orchestrate the fulfilment of customer orders and optimise storage.
Simulating environments with advanced digital twins
We create digital twins to help us test and analyse our highly automated systems to make optimisation decisions such as the most efficient warehouse grid configurations, bot hardware designs or the best store pick walks.
Designing smart logistics solutions to offer greater flexibility
We built an intelligent system which combines last-minute orders with prepared orders about to be dispatched. Result? Customers can choose short-lead delivery slots without the need to put more vans on the road and run less efficient routes.
Our application process
We’re looking for problem solvers who can work together to tackle exciting tech challenges across the whole Ocado Smart Platform. Our application process is designed to help you demonstrate your core technical skills as well as critical thinking, communication and collaboration. Here’s what you can expect along the way.
If the strengths that you have demonstrated in your application match what we’re looking for, we’ll set up an initial 1-hour conversation to introduce the business and explore your skills and experience.
You will complete a task to assess the core skills needed for your craft. This could be a pair programming exercise where you will work with an Ocado software engineer on a task to test your collaboration skills, and/or an architecture and systems exercise to assess your technical ability. This will take between 90 minutes and 2 hours.
You will meet a senior member of the department for a behaviour-based interview relating to our values of autonomy, collaboration, craftsmanship, learn-fast and trust. The conversation will last about 1 hour. After this, the talent acquisition team will contact you to let you know if you’ve been selected for the role.
Where could your career take you?
At Ocado Technology, our colleagues design their own career path. You’ll be supported and guided whether you want to specialise in your technical craft, become a people manager, or apply your skills to a completely new area of the business. Hear from some of our colleagues:
